Solar Car Challenge

As a continuation of the sustainability program through every year level at New Gisborne Primary School, students in Year 6 investigate, design, build and evaluate boats made from recyclable materials. The cars are solar powered with students investigating the differences in hull design (balance, weight, alignment and plane), circuit construction and power production differences between series and parallel circuits.

Students are then required to collate and compare time data of their cars in different conditions. Students have the opportunity to race at Scienceworks against schools from across the state in their annual event.
